Direct bank transfers are understandably the easiest way for donors to make donations. A few taps on their mobile banking app and it’s done. However, as far as Gift Aid administration goes, it is the most burdensome payment method for charities. Bank transactions need to be analysed and linked to valid Gift Aid declarations before claims can be made on those donations. This is usually a slow and laborious process. Problem Worth Solving
First and foremost, unlike other online payment methods, donors do not get any opportunity to make Gift Aid declarations during the bank transfer process. Charities typically display their bank details and provide a Gift Aid declaration form that is totally detached from the donation workflow. Secondly, it is not always possible to attribute a donation to the correct donor. For instance if Alison Smith, Alex Smith and Adam Smith each made a donation to the same charity, these would in all likelihood be referenced on the bank statement as A Smith. Without even considering the implications on Gift Aid, it is self-evident that this creates more problems for an already arduous process.
